Did you know that North Carolina has one of the largest communities of Hmong refugees in the US? Many people chose North Carolina because its climate is similar to the mountains their families came from. For Mee Moua and Yee Chang, the climate in Lawndale is perfect for growing some of the most important foods in Hmong culture. On their farm, they grow lemongrass, bitter melons, luffa, and even their own rice!
Join us for a farm-to-table dinner featuring traditional foods that celebrate the Hmong New Year in late autumn. We’ll have a bonfire, games, drinks, and several courses of food with a dessert. You’ll leave with a nourished heart, mind and belly.
If you love food, are interested in Hmong culture, and want to celebrate the diversity of our community and ecosystems, this is the place for you. This is one of our favorite nights of the year!
