Volunteer at Market!
Every Monday in Shelby at Jefferson Park and Wednesday in Grover behind the courthouse at 4:30 p.m. we give away fresh, local produce. This began the week following Hurricane Helene, where we gave away meals and produce to over 200 people in one day.
Since then, we’ve showed up every week rain or shine to offer veggies, fruit, eggs, and milk. Everyone is welcome to take what they need, no questions asked.
Working at market days is a fantastic way to see the impact of our work in real time and meet people in the communities of Shelby and Grover!
We need volunteers for both markets in Shelby and Grover!
Volunteer in the Garden!
Mondays and Wednesdays before market we meet at our community garden on Old North Farm to harvest the food we need for the day and take care of the garden!
Our start times usually vary based on the season. Currently we’re starting at 7 a.m. and working to about 11 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday mornings. We also host additional volunteer workdays on the weekend, especially during the summer months. Volunteering in our garden is a great way to learn new skills and meet new people in the community!
Volunteer your skill set!
There are so many creative ways to donate your time and skills! Our volunteers have given their time and offered their services doing things like fixing a sink or sharing their expertise in communications, website design, accounting, and more!
We always could use a hand, so if you think you have knowledge or a skill that could help Broad River Community Market, we’d love to hear from you!
Another great way to get plugged in is by attending our monthly volunteer mixers, so check our social media for updates on these events! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to megan@broadrivermarket.org
