Communications Manager

Part time - Hybrid - Based in Cleveland County, NC

We are seeking an experienced communications manager to maintain a consistent social media presence, maintain volunteer and donor relationships, and assist in the implementation of fundraising campaigns and events. This will be a hybrid position based in Shelby, NC. Through the week, you will be asked to create content highlighting volunteer opportunities, food distributions, . There are at least 5 volunteer opportunities each week. Additionally, you will be responsible for attending some volunteer events and pop-ups to serve as a point person and to take photos and video. Lastly, you will work with the directors to plan and manage fundraising events. 

Duties: 

  • Collect and share stories that demonstrate the impact of Broad River Market’s work. 

  • Create engaging content to be shared across social media, our website, newsletter, and print materials. 

  • Design flyers, graphics, and promotional materials using platforms such as Canva, Squarespace, and Flowdesk. 

  • Coordinate outreach with media and partners to promote our events and fundraisers. 

  • Work with our directors to develop campaigns that recruit volunteers, bring in donations, and grow our presence in the community. 

  • Track engagement and performance of content over time to inform promotion of our programs, services, events, and fundraisers. 

  • Maintain CRM through Little Green Lights, Squarespace and Flowdesk.

Requirements: 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills. 

  • Strong social media savvy and editing skills. 

  • Ability to self-direct and maintain organization. 

  • An eye for detail and aesthetics in creating content.

  • Willingness to adapt and pivot.

  • Comfort using and learning software, especially email, CRM, and graphic design software. 

  • Compassion and care for people of all kinds. 

Preferred:

  • Prior experience of two years in a communications, social media management, or marketing role

  • Prior experience in fundraising or nonprofit work 

  • Education in marketing, communications, business, or public relations.
